Coimbra hosts Europe's largest Bioimaging event

 

 

From 16 to 19 June 2026, the city of Coimbra will host the 26th edition of the European Light Microscopy Initiative Meeting (ELMI 2026).

This meeting is the main European forum for bioimaging and is jointly organised by PPBI – Portuguese Platform of Bioimaging and the University of Coimbra.

With more than 500 participants expected (90 % international), ELMI 2026 offers a privileged environment for establishing collaborations and discussing projects with leading experts and representatives from the 50 largest companies in the sector.

 

Programme highlights:

Opening Keynote: We are honoured to welcome Professor Ed Boyden (MIT, USA), a world pioneer in optogenetics and expansion microscopy.

Scientific Sessions: The programme focuses on key areas for current biomedical research, featuring renowned international speakers.

Unprecedented Technological Focus: Opportunity to explore the latest technological innovations in the field of bioimaging in 48 industry-organised workshops per day, allowing direct contact with state-of-the-art equipment.

•  Abstract Submission (Posters): Until May 31 2026.

•  Event: June 16 to 19 2026.
