I am a young Portuguese researcher who is interested in energy metabolism and cell regulation. I finished my Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry in 2017 and my Master's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2020, both at the University of Coimbra. During this period, I worked mostly on understanding the hepatic metabolic dysregulation during Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. This work led to seven poster presentations (two 1st authorships), one oral communication (1st authorship), one journal article (co-authorship) and my dissertation titled The impact of different lipogenic diets on direct and indirect pathway contributions to hepatic glycogen synthesis. In March 2021, I started working as a Research Fellow at the University of Florence. There, I studied the interaction of the microbiome with host metabolism, having done an oral communication that led to a conference paper (1st authorship). I am currently starting my PhD at CNC focused on adipose tissue dysfunction in the context of Type 2 Diabetes.
