Visão Geral

Having completed my BSc in Biochemistry and MSc in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, I pursued a PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the laboratory of Synapse Biology (Prof. Joris De Wit) at KU Leuven/VIB Center for Brain & Disease Research, in Leuven, Belgium (2014-2020). During my doctoral studies, I developed a novel method to profile the molecular composition of synapses in the brain using a combination of biochemical, mass spectrometry and proteomics techniques. After completing my PhD I transitioned into a new role in the biomedical industry to further complement my academic research training and have a closer impact on the development of new disease therapies. I joined IQVIA as an Associate in the Medical Evidence Practice team, where I collaborated with key stakeholders at top 20 pharmaceutical companies, designing and implementing real-world evidence-based studies across the drug life cycle (2021-2023). At IQVIA, I gained exposure to the drug development process in various therapeutic areas, including immunology and rare diseases. Recently, I have joined the Multidisciplinary Institute of Ageing (MIA) as an Assistant Researcher, integrated in The MemBRAIN laboratory (Dr. Luís Ribeiro), to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying age-related brain diseases.
