Overview

Sandra Morais Cardoso is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and leader of the 'GAin' group at CNC. Her research is focused on the role of microbiome-mitochondria crosstalk in the activation of neuronal innate immunity and on its impact in neurocircuitry in Neurodegenerative and Neuropsychiatric disorders. She published over 90 articles (index H = 48;> 16,000 citations), received the Medal of Merit from the Ministry of Health (2013), the Janssen Neuroscience Award (2014) and the Mantero Belard Award (2016) by SCML.
