Sara Carvalho holds a degree in Nursing since 2012 from the Oporto Nursing School. Her professional experience started in Portugal in the areas of elderly, chronic illness and dementia care, an interest that she maintained while moving to Ireland from 2013 to 2022. In 2016, she completed the Best Practice in Dementia Care Learning Programme by the University of Stirling.
Later on, she became specially interested in palliative and end of life care, having now a large clinical experience in this context. In 2018, she obtained the European Certificate in Essential Palliative Care by the Princess Alice Hospice. She also holds a Post-Graduate Degree in Palliative Care by the Santa Maria Health School since 2021.
Sara has joined the Palliative, End of Life and Bereavement Research Group in 2024, currently working as a Nav-CARE Volunteer Coordinator under the EU Navigate Project.
