The AQoL-8D is a multi-attribute measure of utility for the adult population for use in economic evaluations, assessing health-related quality of life (HRQoL). It was developed by the Center for Health Economics at Monash University (Melbourne) and consists of eight domains (independent living, happiness, mental health, coping, relationships, self-esteem, pain and senses) assessed by 35 items, with four to six levels each.
The main objective of this study can be divided into two phases: (i) creating, adapting and validating the AQoL-8D; (ii) determining the Portuguese standards. A third phase is planned which includes the development of the Portuguese population's system of values and preferences.
