Adaptation and validation of the Skindex-10 questionnaire for the Portuguese population

Project Summary

Pruritus associated with chronic kidney disease is a distressing symptom experienced by individuals with mainly advanced chronic kidney disease. It is associated with poor quality of life, depression, anxiety, sleep disturbance and increased mortality. It is present in around 40% to 84% of individuals with end-stage renal disease, with variation in its distribution and severity.

Main Goals

The main aim of this study is to adapt and validate a reliable and valid questionnaire in Portuguese based on the original Skindex-10, to measure the impact of pruritus on quality of life. In order to achieve this aim, we intend to:
(i) create the Portuguese version of the Skindex-10;
(ii) assess its reliability, validity and acceptability;
(iii) characterize the health-related quality of life of a sample of patients with pruritus.
