Hemacirc: circular RNAs as an innovative tool in hematological neoplasms

Overview

Project Summary

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are gaining attention for their diverse roles in cancer. These stable, tissue-specific non-coding RNAs regulate gene expression at multiple levels, holding promise as disease biomarkers. In hematological neoplasms, a diverse group of cancers affecting hematopoietic system at different age groups, circRNAs could offer less invasive diagnostic tools and therapeutic avenues. This project focuses on six heamtological neoplasms, utilizing advanced techniques like microarrays and digital PCR for circRNA quantification.

Main Goals

The goal is to uncover circRNA signatures, providing insights into gene regulation mechanisms and addressing gaps in biomarker research to enhance diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring, and treatment approaches in hemato-oncology. These could potentially lead to a more accurate classification and development of new prognostic scores.
