The technologies developed at our centre have led to the creation of start-ups in areas such as drug discovery and development, drug delivery, biomaterials, diagnostic and follow-up strategies, drug/molecule assessment and characterization, and cell reprogramming technologies. The close collaboration of our institute and Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN), a business incubator and accelerator of Universidade de Coimbra, offers training and help for CNC Investigators to create and promote technology-based companies. Biocant Laboratories of CNC are located within Biocant (the only Portuguese technological park exclusively dedicated to biotechnology), of which CNC was also a founding partner, in a clear stimulus to entrepreneurship in the CENTRO region of Portugal.
