CôaMedPlants is an innovative interdisciplinary research project that aims to preserve the cultural heritage related to medicinal plant practices in the Côa Valley and improve it through the scientific validation of their properties based on biochemical characterisation, study of the biological activities and mechanisms of action of their extracts. The project will focus on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)/non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), a condition associated with unhealthy diet and lifestyles that can lead to cirrhosis and hepatocarcinoma.
