Project Summary
There is an unmet need for new antiepileptic drugs. We discovered a mechanism for regulation of neuronal excitability that depends on the M-channel/stargazin complex. Here, we will evaluate the physiological significance of this complex and develop a screening pipeline for small molecules targeting it. Promising candidates will be tested for anti-epileptic activity in human neurons and mouse epilepsy models, opening new therapeutic opportunities.
