Aim
This course aims to:
1. introduce students to the basic principles of neurovascular unit structure and function and the mechanisms underlying neurovascular and neurometabolic coupling in both healthy and diseased states;
2. provide a comprehensive understanding of the molecular mechanisms driving neurovascular and metabolic dysfunction in neurodevelopmental and neurological disorders and how they can be targeted therapeutically;
3. expose students to advanced methodologies such as 2-photon microscopy, blood flow measurement and modeling, as well as non-invasive techniques for probing neurovascular and neurometabolic coupling in humans;
4. foster critical thinking and discussion around current challenges and open questions in neurovascular and neurometabolic research through sessions for problem-solving and hands-on activities
